Cape Coast stadium inspected by Ghana and China officials

Central Regional Minister, Acquinas Tawiah Quansah hosted his fellow Minister for Youth and Sports, Dr Ahmed Mustapha and the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Sun Baohong on Thursday morning for the final inspection of the newly built 16,000 seater Cape Coast stadium.

The delegation closely inspected the state and progress of the project as they were led by the personnel of the Chinese construction firm, C.J.C and the Central Region Sports Director of the National Sports Authority, Abaidoo Wilson.

The inspection run through the fully furnished 21 hostel rooms, the ready to use boxing hall with its installed ring and the table tennis hall with available playing equipment. They stepped up to the stands and watched through the already fixed sofa and coloured seats for the VIP and nearby seating sections respectively.

They then moved out to the other facilities where they excitedly observed the completed courts for basketball(2), handball(1) and tennis(1) with its attached flood light to each court.  The high powered states delegation and their entourage wrapped up at the eight lane tartan tracks and the playing field where Director of Green Grass Technology, Frank Boahene duly briefed them.

The $35 million grant project by Chinese government is only left with the construction and installation of the main arena flood light for completion. The palpable glimmer of delight on the faces of the officials after the inspection tour led them to the office of C.J.C for a break fast meal after which the police convoy led Dr Mustapha and Ambassador Sun back to Accra.  The official handing over is tentatively slated for 31st January,2016
