Eccentric boxer, Braimah Kamoko has disclosed that he failed to complete formal education even at the Junior High School level simply because of a clash with one of his teachers.
Kamoko, famously nicknamed Bukom Banku revealed in an interview on Accra based Hitz FM that his education came to an abrupt end in Junior High School first year after he was sacked for beating up a teacher.
Banku recounted that he had to ‘discipline’ the teacher for inappropriate conduct, a situation that forced him to quit school altogether amid revealing that he has no regrets even though he is very determined to make sure his children all have formal education.
“I attended school at Accra Royal around the James Town Police Station. But I didn’t make it to Senior Secondary School, I was done at JHS 1,” he told host MzGee on Hitz FM.
“I did not continue through because I beat my teacher. My teacher misbehaved so I gave him some punches and I was sacked from the school but I don’t care because I don’t think school can do anything for me,” he added without remorse.
His inability to complete formal education often shows in his speeches in public due to his huge influence as one of Ghana’s most recognised sportsmen. Despite the lack of education, Kamoko has churned out a successful career as a boxer, winning all 26 career fights.
He has however not fought since defeating local rival, Ayitey Powers in a super fight at the Accra Sports Stadium back on May 15 last year.
These days, he is more famous for comic roles in local movies and also has few songs to his credit. Bukom Banku also revealed that he has new a HighLife song titled ‘Anyemi’, as well a planned new movie, ‘Aburi Girls’.
