Borussia Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski has joined Fiorentina on loan until the end of the season, the German club have announced.
The Poland skipper has made over 200 appearances for BVB since joining from Wisla Krakow in 2007, but his last couple of seasons have been plagued by injuries.
Having fallen down the pecking order under new boss Thomas Tuchel, he will spend the next season in Florence.
“Kuba is not only a great footballer but a wonderful person. For him it is important to get a lot of match practice ahead of Euro 2016,” BVB sporting director Michael Zorc explained to the club’s official site.
The 29-year-old largely goes to Fiorentina as a direct replacement for Joaquin, who is set to return to Real Beits.
The former Spain international began his career at the Seville club and moved to Fiorentina two years ago from Malaga following a successful spell with Valencia.
