Liberty Professionals midfielder Latif Blessing welcomed with joy reports that he could replace Black Stars’ Solomon Asante at TP Mazembe.
Asante, a midfielder with the Ravens, is on the verge of joining Chinese side Beijing Guoan, according to reports.
Blessing, 19, caught the eyes of the African champions coach Patrice Carteron during the Mo Ibrahim Governance Cup which they won 3-1 over Ghana’s Dream Team at the Accra Sports Stadium last month.
“The first time I heard the news that Mazembe want me, frankly, I cried,” Blessing told Starr FM.
“I have not been contacted but it would be good to replace Solomon Asante. However, I still have a contract with Liberty Professionals so it’s up to them to decide if they will accept an offer from the Congolese side,” he added.
Blessing was nominated for the Most Promising Player award of the Ghana Premier League last season but lost to Latif Anabilla.
Goal understands that Asante will cost Beijing Guoan $2 million and he will have an improved weekly wages from $2,250 to $17,500 if he completes his move.
