Black Queens demand for bonuses after winning AAG

The Black Queens are still at M-Plaza hotel, waiting for their deserved bonuses, after winning the women’s football at the All Africa Games for the very first time.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports decided to give $5000 to sports men and women who win gold in individual competitions, like 100 metres, 200 metres, etc, but decided to cut it down when it comes to team competitions like football, because about 23 individuals are involved in winning one gold medal.

However, the Black Queens believe it was agreed that a qualification from one stage to the other would merit some amount of money: $3, 000 from group stage, $2,000 from semifinals and $5,000 for winning the championship.

The ministry on the other hand is ready to pay $2,000 to each of the 23 members of the Black Queens winning team of the just ended All Africa Games staged in Brazzaville, Congo.

This has influenced the decision of the Black Queens to stay in their hotel rooms, until they are paid what is due them.

Ghana defeated Cameroon by a goal to nil to win their major first trophy at the senior level of Women’s football.
