Bernard Mensah finally pulled on a Getafe shirt with the number 17 on its back and made his long-awaited debut on Friday night. The Ghanaian came on for Angel Latifa in the 87th minute at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, one of the stars of the club’s current crop of players giving way to a star of the future.
It was a moment the midfielder will never forget, infront of 5, 808 fans, one which gave him his first competitive Getafe memory. The game ended 1-0 as well – Getafe’s first victory of the season – thanks to an early Stefan Scepovic strike against Malaga.
Getafe manager Fran Escribá gave the Mensah a run-out to help him bed in and hopefully believes the young midfielder will make an impact in the business start of the season.
Mensah left Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes to join Atletico Madrid who have farmed him out to Getafe for the entire 2015/16 season.
Getafe rise to 12th in the La Liga table while Malaga drop into the relegation zone as they still look for their first goal of the season.
