Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has been discharged from hospital in New York after being taken in ill upon his arrival.
Corriere della Sera reports Berlusconi was rushed to the emergency room of Presbyterian Hospital on Friday evening after he fell ill during his transatlantic flight to New York, having celebrated his 80th birthday just hours before.
“On Friday September 30, Silvio Berlusconi had a mild illness while landing in New York City,” his physician Alberto Zangrillo announced in a statement on Monday.
“After a series of in-depth tests, which ruled out cardiovascular problems, Berlusconi was discharged on October 3 with the indication of staying in New York under medical surveillance.”
Zangrillo is said to have organised Berlusconi’s trip to the same hospital for the purposes of post-operative care after the Rossoneri supremo underwent heart surgery last year.
