Bayern Munich ‘demand Manchester United stop emailing about Thomas Muller’

Bayern Munich have reportedly told Manchester United to stop sending correspondence regarding Thomas Muller.

Louis van Gaal’s side were linked with a number of bids for Bayern’s World Cup winner during the summer transfer window, with certain media outlets claiming that United were willing to offer £71 million to secure the services of the German.

United eventually signed 19-year-old Anthony Martial from Monaco. Despite Martial’s reported £36m price tag – rising to an apparent £58m – the young Frenchman has impressed during his short time at Old Trafford, though it is believed United are still keen on Muller.

However, according to Christian Falk, the chief football writer of German daily Bild, the 20-times English champions have been asked to stop making offers for the 26-year-old by Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Muller has scored 10 goals in 11 appearances in all competitions for Bayern so far this season, and though Van Gaal’s side may chance their arm with an enormous bid for the forward, it seems hugely unlikely that they will be able to persuade him to leave Bavaria.
