Basel have rejected a €25 million offer from Wolfsburg for Breel Embolo, Goal understands.
The 18-year-old striker has attracted widespread interest after developing through Basel’s academy and making his international debut for Switzerland against the United States earlier in March.
Wolfsburg, Everton and Juventus are all interested in securing the services of the teenager, although it is the Bundesliga side who have made the first move with an offer of around €25m.
The German side have already beaten Juventus to the signing of one player this season – Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler – and once again appear set to battle the Bianconeri for a promising talent.
Scouts from Juventus watched Embolo during Basel’s 2-1 victory at Fiorentina in the Europa League in September and they are keen to evaluate his progress in the coming months before making a bid.
While Basel have yet to put a price on the Cameroon-born striker, they are reluctant to sell their prized asset and are seeking an offer higher than the €25m tabled by Wolfsburg.
Embolo hit 16 goals in all competitions for Basel last season.
