Ghana could be forced into a late change with news that midfielders Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Godfred Donsah have been ruled out of the upcoming double header with Congo and Rwanda.
The Black Stars are set to take on Congo in Brazzaville in an exhibition on Tuesday, September 1 before travelling to Kigali to face Rwanda in a 2017 Afcon qualifier four days later.
Donsah would be the hardest hit by the untimely injury, having only received his maiden senior call-up for the game after an impressive performance with Cagliari last season as well as with the Ghana under-20 side at the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup.
The 19-year-old suffered a shoulder dislocation in his first appearance for new club Bologna in a Serie A fixture against Sassuolo on Saturday, and was replaced by Amadou Diawara in the 55th minute, having only completed a five-year move to the club on Wednesday.
Badu, for his part, picked up a knock at training and was, thus, forced to watch from the stands as Udinese lost 1-0 to Palermo at the Stadio Communale Friuli on Sunday.
In spite of the two withdrawals from the initial 24-man squad, it is unclear if Grant would be calling up any replacements.
In a related development, the Black Stars are expected to open camp in Congo for the double header on Monday.
A delegation including Grant, assistant coach Maxwell Konadu, management committee chairman George Afriyie, locally-based players Fatau Dauda and Richard Ofori, among others, arrived in Brazzaville on Sunday night.
