Ayew doubtful for Ghana’s qualifier against Mozambique

Ghana and Swansea City midfielder Andre Ayew will be out of action for at least two weeks following an ankle injury.

The 26-year-old missed out his side’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth in the English Premier League on Saturday and is likely to be sidelined for next weekend’s game against relegation-bound Aston Villa.

Swansea manager Alan Curtis broods on his star player’s absence when asked how long the Ghana international would spend in the treatment room.

“I would not have thought so [that it was serious]. He’s probably going to be out for a couple of weeks,” Curtis told BBC Radio Wales.

“He just turned his ankle. He’s probably doubtful for the Villa game,” he added.

Ayew could as well miss Ghana’s game against Mozambique in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on March 24 in Accra, with the return leg coming up four days later in Maputo.

Goal understands that Ghana gaffer Avram Grant will name his squad this week for the double header.
