DR Congo based Ghana international midfielder, Gladson Awako has revealed that he foresees the Black Stars of Ghana lifting the 2015 AFCON to be hosted in Equatorial Guinea later this month despite being in a tough group.
The Black Stars of Ghana are in Group C, alongside the Terenga Lions of Senegal who placed second in their qualifying group, the Banfana Banfana of South Africa and the Desert Warriors of Algeria who were all first in their groups, but Awako insists that the Black Stars may win the coveted African trophy.
In an interview with sportscrusader.com, Awako admitted that the group is very tough but the Black Stars will make Ghana proud. “Yes it is true that we are in a tough group but something keeps telling me that Ghana may win the trophy.
Algeria is the only side I may tip to be tough for Ghana but apart from that, Senegal and South Africa are not that dangerous”.
“We have been playing with most of their players and I know how they felt when the draw was made. So I strongly believe that the Black Stars will not struggle in the group. I believe the trophy will come home”, he added.
Gladson Awako is one of the five Ghanaian players who practice their profession with DR Congo champions, TP Mazembe.
