Barimah Attuahene who was recently elected as the Chairman of the National Chapters Committee has finally been accepted as a Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak.
Attuahean who won the recent NCC elections was expected to automatically represent Hearts of Oak supporters at Board meetings but that did not happen. The former NCC Chairman, Alhaji Akambi was still representing the supporters during Board meetings despite losing the elections to Attuahene. Why Attuahene was not allowed to attend Board Meetings remained unclear.
This did not go down well with some of the Hearts of Oak fans and who nearly marred the club’s last Annual General Meeting, held at the World Trade Centre in Accra.
In a bid to avoid incurring the wrath of the supporters, officials of Hearts of Oak have finally accepted Barimah Attuahene as a Board Member of the club.
Attuahene last Monday, December 29, 2014 officially attended his first Board meeting in the capacity as the NCC Chairman, an action he stressed was a step in the right direction.
“I believe this decision by the Board will help unify the support base in the coming season because initially there were agitations because I wasn’t allowed to attend the Board Meetings”.
“For me I see it as a beginning of good things to come for the supporters and the Club as a whole because like I said in my victory speech, my main aim for contesting for this position n is to help mobilize and unify the support base of the Club”, Attuahene told sportscrusader.com in an exclusive interview.
