Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has advised Ghana striker Jordan Ayew to redeem himself with a fine performance following the striker’s return from a three-game suspension.
The former French side Lorient player was shown a straight red card after he elbowed West Ham United’s left-back Aaron Cresswell in a league clash last month.
Ayew’s behaviour received criticisms from supporters and football pundits but he is now available for Tuesday’s game against Everton at the Villa Park.
“Jordan can be important now. In a period when the team wasn’t performing Jordan was playing well.” Garde told the club’s website.
“He made a big mistake, for the team. I’m sure that he will have to prove to his teammates and everybody else in the club that he regrets his mistakes and do his maximum.”
Ayew joined Villa from France’s Ligue 1 last year and has become the club’s top scorer in the EPL, with five goals from 19 games.
Villa are currently lying rock-bottom on the log with 16 points after 27 games, eight points adrift of safety.
