Kudjo Fianoo, chief executive officer of Ashantigold SC, claims the club’s current focus is how to eliminate M.O Bejaia in the second leg fixture of Caf Champions League at the Stade de l’Unité Maghrébine next weekend.
Ghana champions hold a lone-goal advantage going into the game and have also kicked off their domestic league season on a positive note, after defeating FA Cup and Super Cup holders Medeama SC 2-1 on Sunday thanks to the Nuhu brothers.
“We’ve recorded two great victories over Bejaia and Medeama in the Caf Champions League and local league respectively in the past days which have boosted our spirit,” Fianoo toldGoal. “
“Our next target is Bejaia in Algeria and we’ll eliminate them come what may. We want to complete what we started in Ghana to underline our readiness for the target we’ve set for ourselves.
“Every Ghanaian is hoping we return from our trip with good news and we’re not going to disappoint. Our performance will affect Ghana’s ranking on the best leagues in Africa.
“Although, it’s our aim to qualify to the next round and also move into the group stages, we also want to help accumulate points for the calculations of the coefficient at the end of the season so that Ghana can win back the four slots for countries that have clubs who perform very well in the continental competitions,” he concluded.
Sports5050 understands that the Miners will leave Ghana on Thursday and make a transit in Istanbul, Turkey en route to Algeria.
The game is slated for January 28, with the winner on aggregate meeting the winner between AS Tanda (Cote d’Ivoire) and ES Setif (Algeria), with the latter holding a 2-0 advantage.
