Anglo Ashanti have made a significant financial commitment to the course of Ashgold as they prepare for the CAF Champions League which kicks off in February.
Ashanti Gold dethroned Asante Kotoko to win the Ghana Premier League, which is their first league title in 19 years and will return to continental duties to rub shoulders with the giants in Africa.
Competing in Africa entails much financial commitment in terms of signing topnotch players to augment the existing squad, travelling arrangements to away matches, hosting of match officials, etc.
The approved budget of the management of the Miners is for the preliminary stage through to the final.
“We have sent a budget in the region of $1.5 million, which covers the preliminary stage to the final of the CAF Champions and we expect to play 16 matches if we manage to reach the final.
“Although that amount has been approved we will not receive the entire money on the go. We will prepare a bill for each match depending on our opponent,” Kudjoe Fianoo, the CEO of Ashgold told Hot FM.
