Ghana Premier League champions Ashantigold claimed a narrow lone-goal win over Algerian side MO Bejaia on Sunday in the Caf Champions League preliminary round, which observers fear they might not hold on to in the return leg.
However, the team’s communication director, Kofi Owusu, claims the result would have been different if Ashgold were playing the league.
He is hopeful the commencement of the local league next weekend would sharpen the Miners and help them obtain a better result against Bejaia.
“We would have been sharper and much ready for the MO Bejaia had the league been in session but the opening game against Medeama SC is just the perfect match before we travel to Algeria for the second leg,” Owusu told sportscrusader.com.
Ashgold will face Bejaia in a fortnight after the Miners’ league opener against Medeama SC.
