Ghana’s sole representative in the CAF Champions League, AshGold have safely arrived in Algiers ahead of their second leg clash against Algerian side MO Bejaia.
The Miners left the shores of Ghana Thursday night with a 30-man contingent, consisting of 18 payers, 7 technical staffs and 5 officials.
The reigning Ghana premier league champions a fortnight ago won the first leg tie by a goal to nil courtesy Tijani Joshua’s second half wonder finish at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
Midfielder Nuhu Alhassan in an interview with Pulse.com.gh confirmed the team’s arrival in Algiers ahead of Sunday’s clash.
“We have arrived in Algiers and we thank God for the travelling mercies, we have completed the first part of our agenda that is arriving in Algeria for the match, now the focus is on Sunday’s game. We have a one goal lead and we will do everything possible to seal a qualification.
“We know Bejaia will come after us, but we will stay focus in the game and I’m optimistic that at the end of the game, Ashanti Gold will qualify to the next stage of the competition,” Nuhu told Pulse.com.gh.
The 18 players that made the trip are: Fatau Dauda, Robert Dabuo, Eric Opoku, Joshua Tijani, Hudu Yakubu, Kadri Mohammed, Awudu Nafiu, Nuhu Alhassan, Amos Addai, Isaac Amoah, Fuseini Nuhu , Paul Abaka Nkrumah, Augustine Sefa, Joseph Ato Bissah, Desmond Agbekpornu, Emmanuel Osei, Mumuni Shafiu, Emmanuel Osei Baffour.
