Ghana FA Executive Committee member Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer says Ashford Tettey Oku should not be appointed as the next Premier League Board Chairman.
The PLB Boss Welbeck Abrah Appiah stated his intention to resign from his position last month, leaving the GFA with no option but to look for an equally astute administrator to replace the banker.
Ashford Tettey Oku is considered leading candidate for the PLB top job when Welbeck Abra Appiah finally resigns, but because he was once an Administrative Manager of Hearts of Oak, he should be overlooked, according to the Tema Youth Sporting Director.
Palmer believes the boss of the PLB should have no affiliate with any sporting club.
“The next person should not be identified with any club.
“You have to take a critical look at the decision. Ashford Tettey Oku in terms of experience is impeccable and he is well qualified but he has had something to do with Hearts of Oak,” he told Happy FM.
“Once a Phobian is always a Phobian. Ashford can serve in different capacities like the General Secretary, but not Chairman.
Palmer adds that because he is with Tema Youth, he won’t accept such position if given the chance.
“If I am Ashford I will never accept the appointment when i’m given the opportunity because I have a football club and I know I can’t be neutral when it comes to matters involving Tema Youth.”
