Ashanti Gold have stepped up preparations ahead of the 2016 Caf Champions League preliminary round clash with Algerian side MO Bejaia set for February 14.
The Obuasi-based side are Ghana’s sole representatives in the flagship continental competition after winning the 2015-16 local topflight title last September.
“Africa [continental club competition] participation is different as compared to the local league,” chief executive officer Kudjoe Fianoo told Boss FM.
“In the local league, we normally go to camp on Saturday and break players after the game [on Sunday].
“For Africa, we have started preparations and the players are in residential camping where we can supervise their diets and other things.
“We have confidence in coach Bashiru Hayford and his backroom staff to build a [formidable] team for the 14th February game.”
Ashgold will host the first leg at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, before travelling to Algeria for the return encounter two weeks later.
The winner over both legs progresses to the first round to play Club Africain/As Tanda in March.
