Asamoah Gyan’s father debunks reports his son has cheated on his age

Father of Asamoah Gyan, George Baffour Gyan has rubbished reports with quotes attributed to him suggesting the Ghana striker is ten years older than his known age of 30.

Reports fast circulating mainly online and on social media claim Mr. Gyan Baffour in a recent interview revealed his son who is the captain of the Black Stars has cheated on his age.

The Shanghai SIPG ace threw a lavish party over the weekend to mark his 30th birthday at his reported $3m mansion in Accra.

It was at this gathering that Mr. Gyan Baffour is said to have revealed his son is 10-years older than his known age of 30.

But the reserved father of four believes there are calculated attempts to get at his successful son as he has never made such a revelation.

“I am very shocked by these reports. How and where did I say that Asamoah Gyan is 40, how old is even my first born?” he told Accra-based Montie FM.

“I have never granted an interview with anyone or any media house. I have four children with the first being a lady and the last being Asamoah Gyan.

“My first born is 39, Baffour who follows is 36, then comes Opoku who is 33 before Asamoah who is 30. They all have three-year intervals separating them.

“I just can’t understand how someone will make such a publication.

“Perhaps these reports are motivated by jealousy because I just can’t understand.

“It is very clear that some people want to use all means necessary to destroy my son but he is blessed and no one can destroy him.”

Mr. Gyan Baffour further revealed he has instructed his lawyer to look into the publications and take serious actions against personalities behind the reports he considers as a vicious attempt only to embarrass his son.

“I have reported the issue to my lawyer to look into it,” he added.

“We have to take serious issues with this report as it is a very dangerous plot to disgrace my son.”
