Amartey: I’ve learnt a lot from Awal and Jonathan Mensah

Black Stars defender Daniel Amartey says he has already picked up valuable lessons from the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Amartey who was a surprise inclusion in Ghana’s final 23 man squad for the tournament also says he is becoming more composed after some tutelage from Jonathan Mensah and Mohammed Awal.

“ I am playing with experienced players and I try to listen to them a lot. It is a learning experience for me and I hope to get better as a player and a person”, Amarety told pressmen at a news conference in Mongomo.

Daniel Amartey who plays for Swedish side F.C. Copenhagen is one of the few players to distinguish himself in the Black Stars’ first game at the Nations Cup despite the loss to Senegal.

He’s enjoying his meteoric rise but has that his major objective at the moment is to help Ghana’s Black Stars qualify to the next stage of the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Ghana will play Algeria on Friday, January 23 and anything less than victory will be disastrous for the Black Stars’ campaign at the tournament.
