Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari got injured in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday after getting the nod from manager Victor Piturca to play for Al Ittihad against Al Nasr.
The former AC Milan and Inter Milan player was stretched off after 56 minutes of play with Jamal Ba Jandooh being his replacement.
Muntari’s Al Ittihad team lost the home game against Al Nasr in the Champions League by two goals to one.
Nilmar Honarato Da Silva opened the scoring of the game less than a minute of play for away team Al Nasr. Gelmin Rivas pulled level for Al Ittihad before the interval but Nilmar scored his second on the day to win the game for Al Nasr and secure all three points.
Muntari has had a poor last week after getting a two-game ban and a fine for attacking a player during Al Ittihad’s cup game against Al Wahda last week Tuesday.
The ban saw the suspended Black Stars midfielder miss Ittihad’s league game against Al Wahda on Saturday.
