Dreams FC coach C.K. Akonnor has greeted with enthusiasm the appointment of Godwin Attram as coach of second tier side Accra Great Olympics.
The former Ghana international, who returned from abroad last season, was named as a player coach at the Accra-based team, who were relegated last campaign despite the presence of some veteran players.
Attram succeeds Yaw Acheampong whose contract has expired.
“I am happy for him (Attram). It is always good to see your colleagues in the industry as yourself. We need to encourage more ex-players to get into the business,” Akonnor was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet.com.
“It is always good to have active participants of the game turning into managers and I am happy at that.
“The best person for a job is someone who has done the job before and knows the ins and outs of the job.
“It’s encouraging and I believe the FA will encourage more ex-players to get into coaching to help develop the game.”
Akonnor, a retired central midfielder, also played for the Black Stars, between 1991 and 2001, scoring 12 goals from 42 caps.
