Sekondi Hasaacas striker Eric Kwabena Bekoe has given team-mate Samuel Afful a special mention in his post-match analysis of their team’s 2-1 win over Ebusua Dwarfs in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Justice Mensah scored first for the visitors but Bekoe equalised with a spot kick after he was brought down in Dwarfs’ area before he assisted Afful with the match-winner, as the Hasmals moved up from the relegation scare at the Essipong Sports Stadium.
“Afful finally scored his debut goal and it eventually brought us the maximum points. He has played very well throughout this season but the goals weren’t coming. Despite the lack of goals, his presence has helped in some of the seven goals I’ve scored so we were all waiting for the day that he will grab his first goal of the season, and it was a big relief for us on Sunday,” Bekoe told Goal.
“I’m happy for him because it’s his second goal in three games in all competitions since he scored against Okwawu United and if he continues to score like this, it will certainly help the club to continue to improve our season.
“Afful is young and energetic and I believe he will definitely make it. I can’t run like him but I’m scoring because of my experience and petitioning on the field and he is learning that too so expect much from him.”
Bekoe further stressed that Hasaacas are on the rise and will start amassing vital points in both home and away games.
“We’ve not been in a superb form but I’m assuring our teeming supporters that our poor run of performances are over. In the last 13 games, it was like an extension of the pre-season but we’re done and poised for action. We will pick our pieces and finish the season on high note,” he said.
Hasaacas are now 10th on the log, four points above safety.
