AFCON 2015: Zambia leave out veterans Jacob Mulenga and Chris Katongo from provisional squad

Honour Janza has snubbed veteran strikers Jacob Mulenga and Christopher Katongo for Zambia’s 2015 AFCON campaign.

Janza unveiled his provisional 26-member list of players expected to report for final team selection on December 26 in Johannesburg.

Katongo of Bidvest Wits in South Africa has not been in Janza’s plans since he was axed just after Zambia’s scoreless draw away to Niger on October 11 in a 2015 Africa Cup Group F qualifier.

The ex-Zambia captain has been overlooked together with his ex-strike partner at senior and Under-23 level Jacob of Adana Demirspor of Turkey after some modest displays by the latter in the Group F qualifiers.

Meanwhile, four notable young guns could make their Africa Cup after making the final selection list.

They are striker Reynold Kampamba of Nkana, midfielder Lubambo Musonda of Armenian club Ulisses and Red Arrows winger Bruce Musakanya.

Arrows striker Patrick Ngoma who inspired the Zambia Under-20 to the 2014 COSAFA Youth Championship title earlier this month in Zimbabwe is in the team.

Ngoma also won the golden boot at the tournament held in Bulawayo.
