Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars and Ghana Football Association Executive Committee Member Albert Yaya Commey has backed Black Stars vice-captain Andre Ayew to win the 2015 CAF Footballer of the Year.
The Swansea City player competes against current holder of the award Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast and Manchester City and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyung of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund.
Yaya Toure beat Andre Ayew and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyung to the 2015 BBC African Footballer of the Year which has raised questions whether the Ivorian can be overthrown this year when the CAF award is held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria.
Albert Commey however said of Andre Ayew taking the crown from Yaya Toure:
“Am a bit down when I hear people say Dede cannot win, I don’t know why they say that but for me my prayer is that the gentleman win for Ghana to also enjoy in terms of the pride and bragging rights.”
Andre Ayew played a great part for French side Olympique Marseille in the year 2015 before transferring to English Premier League side Swansea City where he has done an impressive job so far.
The Black Stars vice-captain also reached the Africa Cup of Nations final with his Ghana side where they were beaten on penalties by Yaya Toure’s Ivory Coast.
