Adu Asare pessimistic about Ghana’s AFCON campaign

Former Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency and a member of Ghana’s 2014 FIFA World Cup planning Committee, Adu Asare has stated that he does not think the Black Stars are in position to win the 2015 African Cup of Nations which begins later this month.
According to Adu Asare, the well documented poor 2014 World Cup campaign by the Stars will take a toll on the team’s chances of winning the AFCON.
Speaking on Joy Fm’s topsy-turvy show earlier this week, Adu Asare said ‘I don’t think the team has overcome the unfortunate events of Brazil 2014 and I don’t think there is that much unity at the moment and because of that I feel we can’t win the tournament.’’
Ghana has been placed in a difficult Group C at the tournament; a Group that includes, Algeria, Senegal and South Africa.
The Black Stars have won the Nations Cup four times, but the last of those trophies came in 1982-over thirty years ago.
The Stars are currently training at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra and are expected to leave for Spain later this weekend.
