Ghana and Anderlecht midfielder Frank Acheampong has admitted that his two goals against Greek giants Olympiacos that saw his side through to the last 16 of the 2015-16 Uefa Europa League was the best moment in his entire career.
With the score tied at 1-1 on aggregate after regulation time, the Black Stars winger found the back of the net in the 103 and 111 minutes respectively as he masterminded the Purple and White’s comeback to snatch a 2-1 away victory at the Stadio Georgio Karaiskaki on Thursday.
“The first goal was a goal of God. This is the best moment of my career so far,” Acheampong said. “I am sure God still has a lot of great moments planned for us in the future.
“Physically, I was not fine. I even wanted to be substituted because I [had] suffered from cramps. However, the coach left me on the pitch and I was mentally strong. I knew where that ball would fly when I went for the shot,” he added.
Acheampong have now scored five times in his last five matches in all competitions for Anderlecht. He earlier found the back of the net on three occasions in his last three league appearances.
