Midfielder Clifford Aboagye is the only foreign-based player in Ghana’s 21-man squad for the Orange CAF U-20 Championship Senegal 2015.
The 20-year old, who plays for Spanish side, Granada CF and adjudged the third best player at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013, will make a second successive appearance at the continental youth championship after 2013 in Algeria.
Head Coach Sellas Tetteh, who became the first coach to guide an African side to the global title, Ghana at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009, has settled for a pre-dominantly locally based side, made up of players who featured prominently in the qualifiers.
The squad includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and three forwards.
The Black Satellites are currently on a training tour of Turkey to wrap up preparations for the 8-22 March 2015 Championship in Senegal.
Ghana, winners in 1993, 1999 and 2009 are housed in Group B alongside South Africa, Mali and Zambia. Hosts Senegal, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria make up Group A.
The semi-finalists will qualify to represent the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand in June.
